The per chevron division of the field represents the family's strong Christian values and work ethics, the wavy lines of partition represent the armigerís love of the ocean. The antlers represent strength and endurance; the armiger comes from a strong Irish-English lineage. The stag will not fight unless provoked. The five ostrich plumes were chosen to represent the armigerís loyalty and faithful service.

Above the achievement is the motto Jaws of God, alluding to the Angel of Night from the Bible. Below the shield the motto Strength through Honesty.
